ISST SandPlay

Intensive Training Weeks in Sandplay
Week 1: November 4 - 10, 2024
Week 2: November 18 - 24, 2024

Hotel Londres Estoril
Estoril, Portugal

The ISST board is excited to announce two separate Intensive Training Weeks to be held this coming November at the Hotel Londres Estoril, located in a suburb west of Lisbon, near the coast. Each ITW will be attended by up to 35 participants and 6 faculty, comprised of ISST Teaching Members from multiple countries. An Intensive Training Week is exactly that, an intense, immersive training experience including didactic lectures, case presentations, group supervision, experiential activities, and a mid-week excursion to nearby Sintra, home of the famous Pena Palace and the Initiation Well.

Inspired by the magical atmosphere of these sites, archetypal themes in fairytales will be highlighted throughout each week. ITW teachers will take turns facilitating late evening gatherings focused on a fairytale or myth chosen to amplify case material and “prepare the unconscious for the next day”. Since 2010 ISST has conducted Intensive Training Weeks in the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Poland, Latvia, and Malta. Originally designed to provide introductory Sandplay training in areas where it was not available, the ITW is now designed to accommodate a wider range of trainees interested in experiencing the universality of Sandplay therapy by being part of an international, multi-cultural learning community.
